REWE Group - a living cooperative
At the centre of life, close to people: In our film series, we present impressive REWE Group retailers - strong personalities who have led their stores to success with an individual signature and a common sales concept. Their stories are as diverse as they are - and yet they are united by a common foundation of values that is deeply rooted in REWE Group's co-operative tradition. Today's portrait: young entrepreneur Fritz Starke.
Ways into the co-operative
Konstantin Tönnies is not someone who simply takes things over. Neither familiar expectations nor standardised processes. He wants to understand, improve and create. He has already done this in his photography work - and today in the fruit and vegetable department or in product range planning. He and REWE merchant Florian Potrykus share a desire to develop the retail sector further - without losing sight of people.
REWE Group - a living cooperative
They have proven to be robust and competitive for well over 150 years: cooperatively structured companies such as the REWE Group. Economically, they are at the forefront, yet co-operatives tend to remain in the background in the public perception. Wrongly so, says Divisional Director Thomas Nonn. In this interview, he talks about the appeal of a model that remains relevant and timeless values.
Alexandra Richber
"You did your A-levels and you're learning to be a shop assistant?" Alexandra Richber had to listen to this question, an expression of incredulous amazement, several times. But she was not deterred. Today, she runs two REWE stores as a self-employed saleswoman.
REWEformer
A success story celebrates its 15th "birthday": on 30 June 2009, retailers and top management adopted the "Munich Declaration" and sealed the birth of more intensive support for independent retailers and the development of a new culture of cooperation.
Businesswomen in the co-operative
They have helped shape REWE and are also actively involved in the committees of the co-operatives. But although they are at least as successful as their male colleagues, they are quantitatively in the minority: REWE's saleswomen. We asked Sylvia Stilleke and Kathrin Gödecke why this might be the case.
REWEformer entrepreneurial children
Two years ago, the sons and daughters of our retailers founded the REWEformer Entrepreneurial Children's Network, R.U.N. for short, under the direction of the Communication Retailers division.
Interview with Thomas Nonn
They have proven to be extraordinarily robust and competitive over the decades: cooperatively structured companies like REWE Group. In the one_Interview, Divisional Director Thomas Nonn talks about the appeal of a model that remains current and timeless values.
Katrin Feiertag/Kathrin Bräuer
One from the deep West, the other from East Germany, one the scion of a merchant's family, the other a latecomer. But the two REWE shop assistants Katrin Feiertag and Kathrin Bräuer have much more in common than their first names.
450. Market opened in Meudt
Cicek Kaya recently opened her first Nahkauf store in the small town of Meudt in the Westerwald. It is the 450th in Germany, and she reveals here why she deliberately chose REWE's Nahkauf brand.
