Reorganisation at management level

Marcel Haraszti, Management Board member of REWE International AG, will be responsible for the BILLA CEE division in addition to the full-range Austria division (BILLA, BIPA, ADEG) as of 1 October. Erich Szuchy will take over the newly created position of CEO BILLA Austria.

REWE International AG Management Board member Marcel Haraszti will - as already communicated - take over the full-range business area in Central and Eastern Europe of REWE Group with BILLA in Bulgaria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic as well as IKI in Lithuania as of 1 October 2025, in addition to his previous responsibility for the full-range business area Austria (BILLA, BIPA, ADEG).

Erich Szuchy (55) will take over the position of CEO for BILLA Austria on 1 July 2025. Szuchy has worked for REWE Group in various functions for more than 30 years. He joined Merkur AG back in 1991 and was appointed authorised signatory in 1998 and Deputy Management Board Member for Purchasing & Marketing from 2000. From 2006, he was employed as Group Manager in Central Purchasing at REWE Group Austria and later as Director of Purchasing at BILLA. Szuchy was also able to take on extensive international responsibility between 2011 and 2020, first as CEO at BILLA in Bulgaria and then as a member of the BILLA CEE management team. Born in Vienna, Szuchy has been responsible for Category Management/Purchasing on the BILLA Management Board since 2020 and was appointed to the management of full-range Austria in 2023.

In future, the BILLA Management Board members will report to Erich Szuchy, who will continue to be responsible for Purchasing.

New structure in purchasing
Erich Szuchy's new dual function also means the following change in the Category Management & Purchasing department. In future, Szuchy will be supported by two new Category Management & Purchasing Managers: Zdeslav Jolic for the dry range (food & non-food) and Mario Elbers for the fresh range.

Management change at BILLA in Austria, Slovakia and Bulgaria

Harald Mießner Harald Mießner (49)will take over as CEO of BILLA Slovakia in the third quarter of 2025. Mießner began his career in 1997 as a trainee at REWE, where he completed his training as a retail salesman. From 2014, the business administration graduate was Head of Category Management / Purchasing at REWE in the Southern Region. From 2017 to 2020, he was a member of the MERKUR Management Board with responsibility for the Sales/Personnel/Building Technology and Expansion departments. In 2020, Mießner was appointed to the BILLA Austria Management Board as Head of Sales.He will report to Marcel Haraszti, Member of the Management Board of REWE International AG.

Kai Pataky (photo credit: © Robert Harson) Kai Pataky (44)will succeed Mießner as Chief Sales Officer of BILLA Austria in the course of the third quarter.Pataky started as a sales trainee at REWE International AG in 2007 and then became regional and sales manager for BILLA before being appointed sales director for BIPA, from where he moved to the role of managing director and CEO of BIPA Croatia in November 2019. Since 2023, Pataky has served as
Managing directors of PENNY Austria. The successor to the managing directors position at PENNY Austria will be announced in due course. Pataky will report to BILLA Austria CEO Erich Szuchy.

Albena Georgieva Albena Georgieva (52) will also take over the role of CEO at BILLA Bulgaria in the third quarter. Georgieva started her career at BILLA Bulgaria in 2009 as Head of Goods Purchasing for the fresh produce sector. After several positions in category management, she was appointed Purchasing Director of BILLA Bulgaria in 2014. in 2015, she moved to BILLA in Slovakia as COO, and in 2019 Georgieva returned to BILLA in Bulgaria in the same role. She has been COO for BILLA in Slovakia again since March 2022. Georgieva succeeds Vygintas Sapokas, who has decided to leave the company for personal reasons and at his own request. Georgieva will report to Marcel Haraszti, Management Board member of REWE International AG.
