REWE Group is voluntarily increasing wages and salaries in Germany in advance: our employees in retail will receive an additional 5.3 per cent per month from October and employees in wholesale will receive 5.1 per cent more money.
Our management has decided to do this in light of the fact that some of our employees at REWE and PENNY Markt GmbH as well as Lekkerland and toom Baumarkt DIY store have been waiting almost half a year for an agreement in the wage dispute.
The percentage values correspond to the current status of the employers' offers for 2023 in the retail and wholesale sectors and thus also to the respective recommendations of the trade associations. A later wage agreement will be implemented in full. The amounts already paid out as a result of the advance increase will be taken into account.
In addition, we are extending the inflation compensation discount for employees by a further three months until 31 December 2023, giving employees a ten percent discount on food purchases at REWE and PENNY. In this way, the retail group aims to provide additional financial relief for its employees in times of significant inflation-related increases in the cost of living.
