Königsblau is delighted to have further support from North Rhine-Westphalia: REWE's company logo will be visible on the professional team's training and warm-up clothing from now until the end of the 2021/22 season. REWE and FC Schalke 04 concluded a corresponding sponsorship agreement in mid-March.
Peter Maly, Divisional Director COO REWE, explains: "By ending its Gazprom sponsorship, Schalke 04 has taken a stand and made a necessary and at the same time economically serious decision. As a company with a long history and strong roots in our home region of North Rhine-Westphalia, we want to make a small contribution to ensuring that this club, which is steeped in tradition, can now create the conditions to put its future in German football on a new economic footing."
Schalke's CEO Dr Bernd Schröder is grateful for this support and adds: "First of all, we would like to thank you for the quick and pragmatic implementation. In the joint discussions, it immediately became clear how important Schalke 04 is for football and the region. The club's appeal is unbroken - a great sign for members, fans, partners and employees. REWE's commitment emphasises that the reorientation in sponsorship was the right step. We are now looking forward to our time together."
At the same time, Schalke wants to create new opportunities for Royal Blue in the long term with the separate marketing of training and warm-up clothing, Schröder continued: "We are pioneers in German professional football with this model. We want to continue to create new sponsorship opportunities that suit Schalke in the future in order to further strengthen the club's economic capacity to act."
