More and more people are shopping for healthy, regional, local and sustainably produced food. The Cologne-based start-up "Loql" is now addressing these needs: The aim is to connect regional producers and suppliers with supermarkets as customers quickly and easily. The test phase of the new digital platform solution for a closed group of participants will begin at the end of April. The start-up is the latest project from REWE Group's Innovation Hub.
"Loql" connects regional producers such as agricultural producers or manufacturers on the one hand with B2B customers such as REWE retailers and retailers on the other. This supports the regional economy and shortens procurement channels. In the coming months, the processes and software will be further optimised in close cooperation with the pilot users in selected regions. There are no plans to expand the currently closed group of participants during the test period, but there is a list of interested parties on which companies can register for the expansion of the pilot programme.
Local food on every plate
Clemens Tsalikis
"We are convinced that local food is a win-win situation for everyone involved. That's why we have made it our mission to create a platform to connect producers and buyers as quickly and easily as possible and thus contribute to strengthening the regions," explains Clemens Tsalikis, Managing Director of "Loql".
Founded at the end of 2022, OC Food Solutions GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of REWE Group and offers digital solutions in the area of food retail and the procurement of local and artisanal products.
The B2B platform Loql brings regional and local producers and buyers together and creates a place for simple and intuitive order processing and communication. The vision is: local food on every plate.

Great innovation. As project manager for our Billa sustainability pilot store (EÖ Q 3 2024), I am very interested in more detailed information and a possible test in 2024 in the Vienna area. Best regards, Peter Merhar Rewe International, Nachhaltig
