After a very well-booked winter season, DERTOUR is currently recording a single-digit increase in guests compared to a strong summer last year. "This development underlines the fact that Germans are still keen to travel," explains Mark Tantz, Managing Director Operations DERTOUR Germany. Particularly popular destinations are Turkey, Spain, Greece, Egypt and Germany for short and medium-haul holidays, as well as the Indian Ocean, North America, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and the Caribbean for long-haul destinations.

Most guests have booked their 2025 summer holiday very early and secured attractive early-booking offers. "Never before have so many holidays been booked so early as for summer 2025," says Mark Tantz. However, it is also clear that some guests are booking their holidays at shorter notice than in previous years. "Even though booking early is by far the cheapest option, the demand for last-minute holidays is increasing. This is particularly the case for guests who want to be flexible in their planning or only know their available travel budget at short notice," says Tantz.

DERTOUR also has numerous offers in the last-minute segment: "As DERTOUR, our aim is to appeal to the widest possible range of holidaymakers and travel preferences. To this end, we offer a diverse summer programme ranging from luxury holidays to budget trips," explains Sven Schikarsky, Managing Director Product DERTOUR Germany. DERTOUR organisers are offering a total of around 12,000 hotels this summer, including 365 exclusively bookable hotels.

Despite the strong demand in recent months, there are still offers available everywhere at attractive prices and even the odd last-minute bargain for summer holidays. "There are particularly attractive short-term offers in Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia and Bulgaria," says Sven Schikarsky. "Among the long-haul destinations, Thailand is particularly interesting for last-minute travellers and continues to experience a boom - also due to the very attractive price-performance ratio.

With last-minute offers, it is difficult to choose the hotel or room of your choice - unlike with early booking offers. But: "With a little flexibility in the travel period, holiday destination or departure airport, all holidaymakers can still find the right getaway at short notice," says Sven Schikarsky. "However, those who are dependent on the holiday periods should hurry, as we are already seeing the first bottlenecks in particularly popular hotels." He adds: "For all those who like to book well in advance and want to secure their absolute dream holiday for summer 2026 now, we have already made around half of our offers bookable for next summer. On long-haul routes, more than 60 per cent of the portfolio is already available for booking."
