This autumn, the non-profit organisation ProVeg will once again be presenting the V-Label Award. PENNY and REWE have been particularly successful in securing nominations for the shortlist this time round: both have been nominated for their own-brand plant-based products. In addition, PENNY is on the shortlist for the Own-Brand Award, whilst REWE is in the running for the Food Innovation Award. The aim of the awards is to raise the profile of plant-based products and to recognise their innovative potential and social relevance.
The V-Label Awards Germany recognise products across a total of seven food categories, including meat and fish alternatives, milk and dairy alternatives, vegan sweets and snacks, as well as drinks, muesli and spreads. Five finalists are selected per category and two winners are chosen – one branded product and one own-brand product. There are also two Special Awards that companies can win: the Food Innovation Award and the Own-Brand Award. Both REWE and PENNY are nominated for the latter.

The products are assessed in several stages: first, ProVeg experts evaluate the entries against the criteria ‘Recipe & Health’, ‘Marketing & Design’, ‘Market Potential’ and ‘Sustainability’. The top five products in each category make it onto the shortlist and thus qualify for the next round – the jury tasting. During this stage, a five-member expert jury samples all the food products in a blind tasting and assesses them according to taste, texture and aroma. The jury’s assessment accounts for 50 per cent of the overall result, with the remaining 50 per cent coming from public voting, in which consumers can vote online for their favourites.
Public voting will take place from 1 to 30 September 2026 on the official V-Label Award voting platform. The winners will be announced at the end of October 2026 during a digital awards ceremony.
