Throughout September, the charitable cause was at the centre of nahkauf's activities. With their "Heart Month", retailers, customers and employees supported children in need.
Once again this year, kindergartens, school classes, clubs and political celebrities from mayors to state ministers used the month of hearts to get involved for a good cause. To mark World Children's Day on 20 September, children were invited to paint a picture on the theme of "Children and help". An invitation that numerous young artists eagerly accepted. The winning picture will be printed on the future nahkauf paper shopping bag and will therefore be visible nationwide.
The campaign in Müden, Lower Saxony, for example, was exemplary. There, the team from the "Tante Hanna" convenience store served up a big meal. At the end of the day, they served a giant pan of chilli con carne, which sold like hot cakes. Store manager Thomas Dietz praised his customers: "You raised €2019.66 through your willingness to donate - the Tante Hanna team and on behalf of nahkauf would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all our friends from near and far!" The small full-range store on site or in a suburban location: this has been the positioning of nahkauf within REWE for many years. Around 450 stores ensure the supply of everyday goods in many small communities. They are operated exclusively by independent retailers, almost all of whom are members of the REWE Group cooperative. nahkauf is both a shopping centre and a social meeting place and focuses in particular on regional and local product ranges.
